Our Founder, Brian Langdon Sr, started Brian’s Kids 20 years ago. Brian was an RN on 7H and 11G in the Pediatric Hematology / Oncology / Nephrology unit at the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, for over 18 years. After taking care of one of his patients, a teenage boy being treated for Leukemia, he asked his mom if there was anything else he could do for them. She wiped away her tears with the “sandpaper” like tissues that are standard hospital issued, and she said to me, “can you please get me some decent tissues?”
This is how we started using the money (which wasn’t much) from empty containers on 7H and 11G to purchase “decent” tissues. Purchasing supplies didn’t stop with tissues, though. Our children and their families have many needs. We purchase new clothing such as underwear, shirts, flip flops, shorts, socks, and other items like combs, earbuds, and many food items for our pantry.
